Purdy öarna Mus, Råtta, Fladdermus och Mullvad. Purdy Island, Mouse, Rat, Bat and Mole.

i båtarna. Inte rädda alls.

One of the small, uninhabited island in the Purdy group, has thousands of
Redfooted Boobies in the mangrove trees. There were also Whitebreasted eagle,
Frigatebirds and Terns.

The larger group of island are named The Amiralty Islands and they had their
fame between March and April 1944,during the Second World War.

Bat island was the site of the radar station 340 RS for RAAF, the royal airforce.
It was one of five stations to support the American invasion. The island proved
to be very dangerous with rats infested with mites which in turn carried Scrub
Typhus. The Majority of the 30 strong unit got the typhus and abandoned just
after a month of service. Later a contingent returned to collect the mobile radar
station and all the equipment they had left behind.
There were 2015 still a few survivors of this radarstation, living in Australia.
