After the celebrations we are all invited into the 40 meter long house,

normally only used by the men. Fantastic artifacts are for sale.

The Asmat people still live very much like long ago, marrying several women, 

sharing women*)or being intimate among the men.**) They live periods in the 

long house and the women and the children are in their separate houses all on 

high stilts from the tidal water.

These two customs the missionaries tried to stop and it has also been disputed 

if they ever existed or do exist at all.
